The Rates of Change explores Gander’s ongoing preoccupation with the fluctuating value systems of time, money, opportunity, attention and privilege. Shown through a diverse set of mediums including painting, installation, sculpture, animatronics and photography. Gander subverts everyday signs and objects to reveal new interpretations and unexpected stories. For this exhibition, significant works by the artist will be presented alongside a newly commissioned outdoor sculpture.
Including Agent of Happenstance and Agent of Connectivity that encourages visitors to touch virtualized hologram objects to change their perception of ordinary objects, I’m Never Coming Back to New York Again that criticizes Elitism rampant in the art world, and Our Long Dotted Line (or 37 Years Previous), a huge sculpture that highlights the artist’s thoughts on capitalism and time relationships, 28 witty and satirize works are displayed. The exhibition will run from 24 June to 17 September 2021.
